Germany retain third place with Uruguay win
Germany finished third of the 2010 World Cup after beating Uruguay 3-2 in a thrilling encounter in Port Elizabeth on Saturday.
Thomas Muller grabbed his fifth goal in six games to open the scoring for Germany and put his name among the joint top scorers of the competition.
Edinson Cavani leveled for the South Americans on 28 minutes, before Diego Forlan superbly volleyed in Uruguay's second after the break, taking his tally to five goals.
But the Germans came back with two headers from Marcell Jansen and Sami Khedira, who won the game for his team eight minutes from time.
It is the fourth time for Germany to win third place, the last time was in 2006 on home soil.
The Uruguayans on the other hand, are yet to win against a European side in 15 straight World Cup games.
Holland and Spain vie for the trophy on Sunday at Soccer City Stadium.
