Farmville has released an update so that Halloween Candy no longer counts towards Gift Box limit except in the case of Mystery Items, like the Mystery Gifts or Eggs। Below are the official words from Stumpgrinder the Community Manager on Official Farmville Forum.

Howdy Trick or Treaters! We realize that some of your gift boxes are getting chock full of Halloween Candy and consequently you can’t put anything else in there। We’ve just released an update so that Halloween Candy no longer counts towards your Gift Box limit (except in the case of Mystery items, like the Mystery Game or Mystery Eggs–you won’t be able to get those if the Gift Box is full).
