FarmVille Another Breeding Update ((More Details Here))

In a huge announcement yesterday, the FarmVille team had declared that they would be stopping any illegal breeding of unreleased patterns even if it was done using legitimate methods.

This announcement had caused quite an uproar amongst Sheep and Pig breeding lovers who had spent countless hours stalking the feed for scarce Love Potions, and put immense effort in collecting bottles to grow their treasured Rams, Ewes and Piglets. Some farmers even opted to use Farm Cash to speed up the process.

This evening, the FarmVille team posted up a new bulletin (as shown below) bringing us some updated news. It seems as though they have considered the outrage of many farmers and made some immediate updates to Sheep and Pig breeding that will be affective later tonight when FarmVille updates.

The most noteworthy changes are that the Star patterned and Camo patterned Sheep will be released to the FarmVille Market tonight, meaning that these same pattern Sheep that you already have will be able to breed again and produce similar pattern offspring. The accidental blocking of the Hooded pattern Sheep (produced from Brutus the Ram) will also return and will be effective breeders again.

Says FarmVille Community Manager Stumpgrinder:

“Howdy everyone!

Well yesterday’s announcement sure caused a bit of commotion. We do understand your point of view, and we don’t want you to feel like those pigs and sheep you claimed from your feed, spent bottles to grow and and then bred more with love potions and more bottles, are all going to waste.

Tonight we’ll be adding two rams into the Market with official patterns: a white starred ram and a white camo ram. Unfortunately we wound up blocking the “hooded” pattern (which you get from Brutus the Ram) the other day and we’ll be putting that back in tonight too.

So yes, all three of these patterns will be now allowed, meaning that after we update tonight you can breed with those patterns if you have them on your farm. And of course you can buy the two rams mentioned above from the Market and breed with them too. Note that the so-called “eye-patch” or “patch” pattern is not an official pattern and may not ever be one since it’s a bit messed up. New pig patterns may not be available for a bit longer.

In the near future we’ll be putting forth brand new patterns as well as colors (including the “flasher” color, which you may see soonish). This will also accompany a bit of a re-vamp about breeding and how it works so it’s a bit more robust and fun, though that’s a wee bit further down the road.

We’re also investigating claims about getting all of one color (notably white) for completely allowed animals, complaints that generally center around FC rams and ewes. So far using various combinations we haven’t reproduced a combination that has generated all whites all the time, though we have seen some other oddities that are under continued investigation.

Finally, there may be some clarification needed regarding breeding and pattern inheritance as it stands today:

  • If the patterns of the parents do not match, there is a chance that the offspring will inherit the father’s pattern.
  • If the patterns of the parents do match, the chance of inheriting that pattern is greatly enhanced.

Okay that should be everything we want to say currently about the state of sheep and pig breeding currently. Please let us know what you think below, but please let it stay civil and within the Terms of Service. Thanks everyone!”

Just a recap of the above, we will now allow us to breed the following patterns once again:

  • Star patterned (non-flasher)
  • Camo patterned (non-flasher)
  • Hooded patterned (non-flasher)

Please note that you will only be able to breed the following patterns after the two rams that Stumpgrinder mentioned are available for purchase in the FarmVille Market.

Although we are allowed to still breed any sheep and/or pigs we want, we will not be able to get any “unreleased” offspring. Meaning, for example, if you have flasher sheep & rams already in your Sheep Pen, you may still breed them, but you will not be guaranteed a flasher offspring until flasher sheep are officially released in the FarmVille Market (which will happen). On a sad note, the “eye-patch” or “masked” sheep was never a pattern, may never be released to players at all.

Also, no changes are indicated to the ban on illegal pigs, and therefore, only plain and spotted pigs are still being allowed to be bred.

The FarmVille Team also hints at changes coming to breeding soon, but not too close in the future.
