FarmVille Pic of the Day: Makiziki's lush desert oasis (Share if you Like it)
Howdy folks. Today's featured farm is a handsome design by Makiziki, a player who spends time over at the FarmVille Forums. Makiziki's farm caught my eye because it does something rather novel: paths. Paths may be common in other games such as CityVille, Empires & Allies, and FrontierVille, but in FarmVille, there is no easy way to make paths. All the dirt trails you see are actually created by hand placing the Lush Grass decoration all over the farm.
So not only is this farm a beautiful estate full of crops, animals, and items; but it also serves as a great design guide for other FarmVille artists. Using Lush Grass to cover a farm hasn't been done too much, especially considering how nice it looks. Unfortunately, Lush Grass was a limited time English Countryside item that is no longer available. However, a different item, Tall Grass, can be bought in the decorations tab of the market for 1,500 coins apiece. The only difference is that Tall Grass is a little taller, so it will give farms a more wild, natural look.
In addition to the unique use of grass and desert background in order to make paths, the farm has a lot more going on. In an age where FarmVille players have absurd amounts of stuff, Makiziki's farm remains rather organized. Here's what they had to say about their farm: Well, first of all, I love to design with paths. FarmVille doesn't actually have them yet. And I love a lot of green, so my design looks like a real farm. I worked about 3-4 hours to finsih this farm, and I was so tired when I was done :) But I love my new farm :)

FarmVille Farmers might Endorse Presidential Candidates in-game (Details Here)
Soon, you might be able to show your red (or blue) colors on your digital lawn. The San Francisco Chronicle reports that social media consulting firm Campaign Solutions is working to bring political campaigns into Facebook games, namely Zynga's FarmVille. Michael Hendrix, a consultant for the firm working on Rep. Michele Bachmann's, R-Minn., presidential ad campaign, is at the helm.
"We'll throw out four or five different messages targeting different demographics," Hendrix told the San Francisco Chronicle. "You're trying to figure out which message will drive a higher response." After working with advertising tools created by Facebook to directly target Bachmann's (a Tea Party supporter) demographic, his next message is said to hit FarmVille later this year.
The consultant has "written software" that will allow players to campaign for their candidate of choice by visiting their friends' farms spreading the message. FarmVille players will also be able to place yard signs on their farms, showing support for their favorite candidate. "The majority of social gamers are stay-at-home moms over 38," said Hendrix to the San Francisco Chronicle.
The consultant hopes to use FarmVille "to target soccer moms again." According to the report, Hendrix is looking squarely at Republican supporters in his campaign. However, nothing is said of whether Campaign Solutions's efforts will include support for Democratic candidates.
We'd imagine that, if this campaign were to actually happen in FarmVille, it would have to appeal to both sides of the political spectrum. Otherwise, players might get the impression that Zynga itself is expressing its support one way or the other. Zynga has yet to mention any collaboration with this firm, so we've contacted the company for comment.
FarmVille Pic of the Day: Hop on a train to Onisuka057's fall oasis (Share)
Even though we're in the end of September, the leaves are still green in New York City. But Onisuka057's FarmVille farm is clearly headed for autumn with the yellows and reds of what appears to be the Autumn Ginkgo Tree, Maple Tree, Red Maple Tree, Sugar Maple Tree, and Rowan Tree. On top of that, there's also a Maple orchard below, though that seems to have been thrown in at the last minute. Maybe he can build up the bottom of his farm once Halloween comes around. But he has already dipped into the recently released Lighthouse Cove decor with several Tree Arches, Autumn Creeks, and Outdoor Picnics. So yeah, there's a lot of premium Farm Cash goods going on in this one.
Beyond the colors, the next most striking aspect of Onisuka057's farm are the train tracks bordering it, which are actually two-dimensional, but some massive fence-stacking and blue hay bales have fooled your eyes into seeing an elevated "bridge" hanging over "water." That's the sort of low-cost ingenuity farm designers love to see. But while building a bridge out of fences was a bit of improvisation on the creator's part, limited edition railroad decor did come out in FarmVille last fall as part of the Wild West package, so those are real tracks you're looking at there.

FarmVille is finally offering Mastery for your FarmVille Sheep . These are some of the last animals (besides Calves and Foals) to have mastery available. Each time you harvest one of your Sheep you will earn mastery points towards its Animal Mastery. After achieving all three levels of Animal Mastery, you will be rewarded with a fancy Animal Mastery Sign.
All animals that were available in the FarmVille Market are masterable and have their own specific Mastery Signs. But wait, there’s more! Sheep Mastery is a little more complicated due to all the Sheep that we have created ourselves through breeding. Mastery is still available for those animals, sort of. Sheep that you’ve bred yourself using your Sheep Pens will have a shared Mastery Sign. In other words, there is one shared Mastery Sign for each gender animal from Pens- one Sheep Pen Ewe and Sheep Pen Ram Mastery Sign . Each time you harvest an animal that you’ve obtained through breeding it will earn you mastery points toward its respective mastery. For example, if you harvest a Masked Flasher Ram you will earn points towards fulfilling Sheep Pen Ram Mastery.
If this sounds confusing, an easy way to find out which animal has mastery available simply check your in-game FarmVille Mastery Chart. To access the Animal Mastery Chart, go to your in-game toolbar located on the bottom left- click on the Blue Ribbon which expands the menu and then click on “Mastery” icon and finally click on the Animal tab.
The Animal Mastery for bred Sheep is pretty steep and much more than we are used to seeing with other market animals.
